Outside Reading Response 3/12/12

Treasure Island

So aside from reading post-colonial literature and non-fiction novels I decided I needed a change to a fictional book. I thought the novel Treasure Island would be a good transition from my other books. It is written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It is a Fantasy book about a group of men who have heard of an island with so much treasure on it, so they set sail, with their cabin boy, Jim who is the main character.

As I began to read this book i found the beginning very difficult to read and understand. The first couple chapters had so much "sailor talk" that i could not comprehend what some of them were saying. Once i got more into the book i could further understand it better. So far it is a thrilling book. I read the summery before i read it and it said there was murder and mutiny and a mystery, so I'm excited to see what goes on.

  1. It is definitely good to push yourself when reading as it will pay off later. By the way, watch the spelling of the word summary.

  2. I like that you're pushing yourself to have a better understanding of books with higher reading levels. Don't about it being hard now because later on all your hard work will pay off man. Stay motivated and keep up the good work!
